Sacramento is the capital of California of U.S and the seat of the Sacramento County which is situated on the banks of Sacramento River was founded in 1839. It is the seventh largest city of California and just one hour forty five minutes away from northeast of San Francisco.
Sacramento was inhabited by the Native Americans for thousands of years ago before the arrival of Europeans. It was discovered by a Spanish and named the valley and river as Sacramento valley and Sacramento River in 1806. In 1852, Sacramento was nearly destroyed by the fire but it fought back and started reconstruction.
Sacramento is well known for its gold, which is discovered just outside of Sacramento by James Marshall in 1848.
The population of Sacramento is around 460,242 according to the 2007 estimation. The economy of the city mainly depends on the agriculture.
Sacramento sports Mediterranean type of climate with mild winters and pretty dry summers. People may also get a chance to experience the snow, but it is very rare phenomena.
